A B2B website redesign should make it easier for the right buyer to understand fit, trust the evidence and take the next sensible action. Preserve useful URLs and search equity, improve weak content before moving it, and treat forms, analytics, performance and redirects as launch requirements—not post-launch tasks.

1. Define the commercial job
State which audiences and offers the website must support. Name the buying problems, sales questions and conversions that matter: consultation request, qualified brief, call booking, product trial or partner enquiry.
Review existing analytics and sales feedback. Which pages assist real opportunities? Which enquiries are poor fit? Which questions repeatedly delay a decision? Do not discard a page merely because it has low last-click conversions; it may support research earlier in the journey.
2. Audit content and search performance
Inventory every indexable URL with title, traffic trend, queries, links, conversion role and recommended action: keep, improve, consolidate, redirect or remove.
Google recommends people-first content that is substantial, reliable and useful to the intended audience in its content guidance. A redesign is an opportunity to improve weak pages, not publish dozens of thin replacements.

3. Clarify information architecture
Organise the site around buyer needs and services, not the internal organisation chart. Ensure every important service has a distinct page, proof and next step. Avoid several near-identical pages targeting the same intent.
Sketch navigation, breadcrumbs and contextual links. A buyer should move from problem to solution, evidence, FAQs and contact without returning to search.
4. Build message hierarchy
For each primary page, answer:
- Who is this for?
- Which problem does it solve?
- What is delivered?
- What evidence supports trust?
- What does engagement look like?
- What should the visitor do next?
Use direct headings and concrete explanations. “Transform your future” is not a substitute for describing the workflow or product being built.
5. Design qualified conversion paths
Match calls to action to intent. A service page may invite a project discussion; a technical article may offer a review; a project page may link to a related capability.

6. Use evidence responsibly
Show relevant projects, process detail, technologies where useful and verified outcomes only. Do not invent percentages or imply a client endorsement that has not been provided.

7. Design accessible components
Use semantic structure, keyboard operation, visible focus, labelled controls, clear errors, sufficient contrast and reduced-motion support. Define the target standard early; W3C’s WCAG 2.2 is the current Recommendation.
Test navigation, menus, modals, forms, carousels and video controls with keyboard and assistive technology. Accessibility cannot be confirmed by a colour checker alone.
8. Set performance budgets
Identify the likely Largest Contentful Paint element, reserve image dimensions and keep client-side JavaScript proportionate. Use responsive images, modern formats and restrained motion.

9. Specify technical SEO
Require unique metadata, self-referencing canonicals, crawlable links, correct status codes, XML sitemap, robots controls, social previews and relevant structured data. Keep page content present in HTML where practical.

10. Protect analytics and consent
Document events and conversions before launch. Preserve campaign parameters where appropriate, test form success and make internal traffic filtering and privacy choices explicit.
Do not collect events simply because a tool makes them available. Track actions that answer a business or UX question and retain data according to agreed policy.
11. Plan content migration
Move images, downloads, metadata and structured content with clear ownership. Remove obsolete embedded links and update internal links to final canonical URLs.

12. Rehearse launch
Deploy to a production-like environment and crawl it. Test redirects, canonicals, navigation, forms, schema, sitemap, robots, error pages, analytics and critical user journeys.
Create launch roles, rollback conditions and a monitoring window. Record the previous crawl so unexpected URL loss can be detected.
13. Monitor after release
Watch crawl errors, indexing, search queries, conversion events, performance and support feedback. Check that important old URLs resolve to relevant pages and no staging controls remain.
